The event kicks off at 10 AM with welcome speeches and a ribbon cutting. There will be 2 trains operating-the "Lackawanna Train" of steel coaches departing at 11 AM, 1 PM, & 3 PM for the typical 55-minute rides to Quartzite Lake and back.
The "Copper Range Train" will make a special 35-minute journey across the Baraboo River Bridge and through the museum display yard aboard meticulously restored 1903 wooden coach cars normally reserved for display only. The Copper Range Train rides begin and end inside Mid-Continent's Laurence Dorcy Building, a 10,300 sq. ft. display space opened in 2019. These rides depart at 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:35 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:35 PM, and 3:30 PM.
There will be tours of Mid-continent's first class cars with complimentary refreshments, a food truck on site selling lunch items, a Volunteer Open House in the museum's Car Restoration Shop, and more.
